Dark Chess Pieces

Our task in class was to model chess pieces together with the board by bringing it into a unique concept.
The project was primarily inspired with 3D chess board. As I accidentally extruded the edges of the polygons, I ended up making thorns and spikes. I was impressed on how it added spice to the pieces. Eventually, I went for a dark and edgy theme.
In order for it to have a fully fresh concept, I made the chess pieces seem like the pieces were thrown and scattered accordingly— making it look like everything was at motion.
Finally, for the finishing touches, I applied red old copper for a glossy texture as the default light kissed through the pieces. The project was rendered in Autodesk 3ds Max with Arnold Renderer.
